hi i live in australia and want to become a director and would like some advice...

...from someone who is? 1st of all i would like to say that Australia doesn't produce a lot of films and was wondering would it be possible to become a director (making your own films with your own ideas, not people hiring you to make theirs) in Australia since not a lot of films are made here. i spoke to my careers adviser and she said that if i did peruse a carrier in media i would probably be forced to work on projects like neighbors and home and away....which i wouldn't like would anyone know how i could avoid this and become apart of Australia's movie making
