Travel question about France.......?

Im 16 and me and a few friends are going as a group to france to represent my school at the european parliament.....very soon

The only problem i have is that i have not been on a plane before or have never been out of the country..........I don't really understand the whole luggage thing and i haven't filled out my passport yet and i don't really understand the form too much!!

But should not stop me thou?My teachers are telling us to go and i understand that it is really a once in a lifetime opportunity.
So what to do thou?Stay or go?
