Would Madeira, portugal be a ideal vacation spot?

Im 18 years old, my 2 best friends and i want go somewhere for about 2-3 weeks around october/november. We are looking for some place with nice weather, sites to see, and defiantly some where safe. We think Madeira is an ideal location. Not to mention Portuguese mean are gorgeous. Im open to suggestions? help!
