Default Driving help Grand Canyon South to Las Vegas?

I am about to do a road trip from tucson to las vegas. I'm not worried about the Tucson to Grand Canyon part as there seem to be alot of towns and built up areas on the way, but i am slightly worried about the drive from grand canyon south rim to kingman via I-40 and then Kingman to Las Vegas via the 93. Can someone tell me about weather there are many towns and built up areas, especially on the 93? I shall be sure to fill up with gas, can someone advise me of the places i can do this and also, are these roads safe and patrolled?, i will be driving during the day. What can i do in the case of an emergency?, like breaking down. any help would be greatly appreciated.
