Default Alcohol ban in Thailand before election day?

Will there be an alcohol ban in effect next Friday + Saturday before election
day?

I would like to have a small party in a restaurant, but if no alcohol allowed
I think I better postpone it.

Anybody know for sure?

Yep, certainly better to have drunks voting in the election than to stop
serving alcohol for one day.

Probably. Standard procedure.

allowed

Why? Are you incapable of having a party without booze? Seems like
maybe you need to call the Betty Ford clinic or something.

They think so in Mexico as well. The bars and liquor stores close the
evening before an election day and remain closed until the day after
the election. Lots of stockpiling and private parties go on those two
days :-)
